Paul Scheibner works at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. A deep bond of friendship has bound him to the stallion Maestoso since his teenage years. He has to accept splitting up from his careerist girlfriend so that he can remain true to his life's dream - to perform the haute école of horsemanship on this horse. It is only when he meets the stud farm secretary Julia that he finds someone on his wavelenght. But then the stallion suddenly falls ill and, shortly after that, Julia is wrongly suspected. Suddenly all of Peter's hopes seem in tatters.
